11.3.17 Spice Valley Lambourne

Out with Chrissie and John.
Nice bright restaurant under new management. Friendly  staff, traditional music.Nice poppadums, warm and crisp.
Samoa starters then Alan had the house special chicken chetinad .The other three had chicken tikka. I felt the chicken was a little bland
Alan challenged John to eat a chili, which he did!
  Complimentary drink. After eights :)
8/10

Called in the Five bells on the way home. wher e Alan enjoyed sampling the beers.

11.3.17 memories of Bengal

Travelled to Chosley to the Memories of Bengal. Car park full so parking quite tricky, hopefully a good sign.
Authentic music and a pleasant restaurant. Table booked for 7:45. Poppadums  were served warm but a little soft.
8:50 still waiting for starter!
9:00 Alan's meal- Fiery Korai flamed with Sambucca.
9:03 my special tikka- special a sit was flamed in brandy
Both dishes impressively lit on delivery at the table
Still no starter!
When we were asked if all was OK we had the bajji starters delivered, complimentary but a little greasy.
Service left a lot to  be desired.
The slightly different dishes were interesting but did not make up for the poor and slow service
6 1/2 out of 10

4.3.17 Masala Zone London

A weekend away in London and a new experience for us of Indian street food at The Masala Zone.

The decor was interesting with hundreds pf puppets hanging from the ceiling. the atmosphere was nice enough and the menu was definitely interesting. As there was nothing very familiar on the main meal section I decided to have a peshwari naan as a starter. I had Chicken kottu roti  and Alan had Sheek kebab. We ordered a bottle of merolt but got a Malbec.
Not very impressed with the meal 6/10
